The University of Minnesota ECMO Lab worked to establish and maintain the Minnesota ECMO Consortium. This consortium collaborates with the three other Extracorporeal Life Support Organizations Centers of Excellence in Minnesota to work on ECMO related projects.
ECMO has been associated with a high mortality rate of up to 50%. Using the ECMO data consortium, we have been able to collect a wide range of variables in order to further investigate how we can improve outcomes for patients supported by VV-ECMO. We plan to continue to expand the consortium to include pediatric populations and VA-ECMO.
